Hilary Termcard
12 Jan 2026
We’re thrilled to announce our termcard for Hilary 2026, which includes our flagship event for the year as well as many workshops for you to get involved with. Get your calendars out because this is going to be a busy term!
The aforementioned flagship event for this term is Making Research Matter - a panel discussion on public engagement including Prof. Irene Tracey, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Oxford! We’re thrilled to be able to host her, as well as our other guest speakers:
- Tom Saunders, head of public engagement at UKRI
- Hazel Beaver, a patient representative with Oxford Cancer
- Dr. Rebecca Hill, public opinion and involvement manager at Campaign for Science and Engineering
So you can be sure it will be a fascinating evening - check our newsletter for the sign-up link.
We will also be running three practical workshops this term, all with expert speakers. Turning Science Into Stories will give you the skills to convert your research into an engaging narrative. Scientists in Schools will show you how best to adjust your communications for children and teenagers, engaging people in science when it most matters. And our yet-to-be-properly-named Theory-Heavy Fields workshop aims to examine the ways that people studying mathematics, computer science, engineering and physics can help others understand their work.
We’re even going to be running a fun yoga class, led by an expert on women’s health who will examine how physical activity can help women connect with their bodies. Don’t say we never do anything fun for you!
As per usual, more details will be released on our mailing list nearer the time, so make sure you’re signed up. We can’t wait to see you all!
